Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”Genesis 37:9
Stars appeared to Joseph in a dream pointing towards his future responsibility as ruler of Egypt. Yet his immediate future did not look so rosy: he was shortly after sold into slavery by his hateful brothers, bought into service for Potiphar and then imprisoned. It was much later that Pharaoh’s release of him from prison and promotion to Vizier brought about the fulfilment of Joseph’s prophetic dreams.
Even while he was being promoted, Joseph knew that God was the one who had given him the ability to interpret dreams (Gen. 41:16). Let’s remember to acknowledge God in every situation this year:
“…whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Col. 3:17)
