Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are!
Job 22:12
In this encounter with Job, Eliphaz reminds his friend of how high above all things God is; not in terms of his physical height above earth, but above and set apart from the wickedness and sin that blights the human race. As Paul reminded saints in Ephesus, there is “one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Eph. 4:6)
As we go into 2021, let’s remember that God is in control and in charge, and when sin causes us to stumble we are to confess to, repent towards, and trust in him.
