Day Twelve – The Bright Morning Star

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

Revelation 22:16

As the Bible starts with the creation of the stars, it ends with Jesus describing himself as the ‘bright morning star’. The morning star is the name some people give to the planet Venus, which can be seen at its brightest just before the break of dawn.

It fits the Lord Jesus exceptionally well: amid the darkness and sin of this world, Jesus shines forth and brings us hope in what he did for us at the cross. A new day will come for all those who trust in God, full of light and peace. Until then, we wait patiently for that day while we share that hope of his light with others.
