I spotted a second-hand copy of this book sitting on my parents’ bookshelf one day about 10 years ago. In spite of the slightly dodgy, low-budget appearance of the cover (and the worrying exclamation mark in the title), I picked it up and started reading it.
I was hooked from the first page. Dunn’s style is warm, accessible and sincere. The book is full of answers to questions I had regarding prayer at the time, and I’ve recently been re-reading it to remind myself of everything I learned.
It’s full of relatable examples and carefully-chosen Bible verses that bring out each point. It makes complicated concepts like ‘intercession’ understandable, explores what it actually means to pray in Jesus’ name, and looks at how we should pray, and how long, among many other topics.
I thoroughly enjoyed Don’t Just Stand There… Pray Something!, and feel encouraged whenever I read it. I’m really glad I gave it a chance, in spite of the terrible cover!
