Recently, my family and I have been reading a daily devotional called Purpose Driven Life: Devotional for Kids by Rick Warren (Older readers may instead prefer to try the original ‘The Purpose Driven Life’). In it there are 365 short devotions based on a Bible verse and each has a related closing prayer. The overarching theme of the book is that God has a plan and a special purpose for each one of us and it highlights how we can and ought to use our lives to serve him.
I particularly enjoyed the page entitled ‘The Beginning after the End’; which was about the new earth where there will be no more suffering or pain. What a precious thought! It is so special that we have the hope of an eternal future and friendship with God. His plan and purpose for us is not just for now, it goes on into eternity!
